Repurposed Styling

Every time we start one of our projects – the thoughts behind styling begins. This process takes time, which can be really difficult for me. Worth it? Always! I would say my style is a fun blend of traditional with a touch of flair. Something about a pop of eclectic that makes me so happy. Read about how the Dining Room got it’s face lift but for now it’s time for some fun!

Let’s shake it up a bit. I mentioned before my love of this story in Dallas, Nadeau. They have really beautiful pieces with that special pop – Antrho vibes, for a fraction of the cost. One day I saw this beautiful console pop up on IG. Fortunately I was working in the office that day and was able to take an early lunch to secure it. I scored big time, when I went back to pick it up I was told many people hated me that day. I know, I scored – big time!

Perfect little sideboard from Nadeu

Now how to style something already so beautiful. This project is brought to you with minimal cost by our friends; reduce, reuse, repurpose! Check in with your family members and/or friends y’all… You never know what you might inherit…

This is where we insert, maybe you guessed it, my grandmother – she has auuuhmazing taste. She gifted me this beautiful silk-screen that once belonged to my Great-Great-Aunt, Dodo. Along with the artifact came the story of Dodo. She lived in a home on Turtle Creek filled with the finest of things, that she shared with my RoRo. Dodo’s screen is about 70 years old and now hangs perfectly above the most amazing console. I am incredibly honored to be the keeper of such a fine family heirloom – the perfect touch of eclectic.

Vintage Screen

Now, how do I tie the two together? Many hours searching, only to be less than enthused with what is available…Styling can be so expensive, and seriously lacking in quality. Back to the drawing board. I had an ‘Ah-Ha’ moment! We have so many hardback books about motorcycles and cars. The covers aren’t what I would want to “display,” but thats where the real fun comes in! Once upon a time I made cards, with really fancy paper. I hoard things of that nature and decided I would take a stab in this direction.

Love a little craft project

I pulled out all of my Paper Source collection and laid them all out across the console. The options seemed pretty straight forward the golden/blue hues. I almost went with gold and maroon, but keeping the area calm was important to me. This is such a quick and affordable way to tie in the console with the screen. Plus, I don’t have to purchase books that I would more than likely not even open, but I love the layered look.

What do you think? Stay or go?

I made a trip into Home Goods last week and found a couple of items. One being this gorgeous gold bowl. I love the bowl, but I am undecided if it will stay. I searched like crazy to find one similar in a smaller size, no luck! What do you think? Should it stay or should I keep trying?

Having a creative outlet is so important to me! Thank you for following along.
