Motherhood, It’s a Loaded Word

Motherhood, it’s a loaded word. Maybe you are a stay at home mom, I applaud you. Maybe you are a work out of the house home, I applaud you. Maybe you are a work from home mom, I applaud you. Maybe the last year, living in a pandemic, has made motherhood unbearable at times, I hear you. Maybe Motherhood has thrown countless trails at you, I hear you.

Being a mother has shown me both unconditional love and fear. Behind the curtain of my happiness, you will certainly find fear. The fear of failing, the fear of not being good enough, and the fear of guilt. In these places of fear it is so easy to question every decision that you’ve ever made and suddenly you feel stuck. Open your heart, refresh your spirit.

One thing I know for certain, it takes a village to raise children. Maybe you are struggling to find your village.  Maybe the village you thought you would always have- went in a different direction. Maybe your current village isn’t meeting your needs. Whatever the case may be, I want to encourage you to find your village. Staying lonely in motherhood is the worst place to be.

I have made some of the best friendships in the last year. Some have been strangers on the internet and some have been rekindling childhood friendships. There are moms out there, longing to support you and be supported by your presence. I know, it can be a struggle to go about finding your place. We have all been there!!! Take that leap of faith, you cannot grow in your comfort zone.

Deep down all Mother’s have been there; lost in motherhood, lonely in motherhood, excited in motherhood, blessed beyond measure. You name it, we’ve felt it. So as another Mother’s Day is upon us, let’s celebrate each other, support one another in both success and failure. There isn’t a single one of us who is doing it perfectly, but one this is for certain- we are stronger together.

Happy Mother’s Day, friends!
